Illinois Woman Steals Lululemon, Leads Police On 116 mph Chase
If you need new leggings, you need them NOW.
I'll be the first to admit I've gone on mini-Lululemon online shopping sprees. The stuff is cute and from my experience it holds up pretty well to an active lifestyle. Is it worth stealing though? I don't think so but one lady in Illinois did.
According to KWQC, around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers at the Oak Brook mall in Chicago saw a Hyundai Elantra with expired plates entering the parking lot. Then, they saw 21-year-old Cartara Johnson get out of the car with an empty (or almost empty) Lululemon bag and walk into the mall.
Evidently she didn't think that strategy through, as the officers saw her about 15 minutes later walking out of the mall with a full Lululemon bag.
Then she started the chase. The officers followed her (while she was swerving all over the place, including the shoulder and in heavy traffic) and she got up to 116 mph before officers stopped her.
And what would you know, officers found $300 worth of Lululemon leggings (not confirmed how many, but in Lululemon world that price is like 3 pairs) with the tags still attached.
It may not surprise you that she was already on probation for retail theft. Now, she gets a charge of burglary, retail theft, aggravated fleeing, and eluding a police officer.
No word on her motive. If she wasn't reselling, I understand needing reliable leggings, however probably not the best idea to steal them when you're already on probation.
