Iowa Nonprofit Honors Fallen Police Officers And Firefighter
In a somber ceremony on Wednesday morning, an Iowa nonprofit honored two police officers and one firefighter who died in the line of duty over the weekend.
This incredible nonprofit honors America's police, fire, EMS, and K-9 who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. They do so by creating replica badges to be sent in honor of those who have passed while serving.
Firefighter & Police Officers Killed Shot In The Line Of Duty
Over the weekend, two police officers and one firefighter in Burnsville, Minn. were fatally shot in the line of duty. Officials identified the three men as officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27 years old and 40-year-old firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth, according to CNN.
At 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, Burnsville Police were called to the 12600 block of 33rd Avenue South on a report of a domestic situation where a man reported to be armed was barricaded with family members. After arriving, the situation escalated into gunfire with responders, according to officials. At approximately 8 a.m., the suspect was reported to be dead. Later in the morning, the other family members left the home and were safe.
Metal4Valor Honors Fallen Firefighter & Police Officers
Wednesday morning, Metal4Valor, a nonprofit group in Eldridge, IA that honors Police, Fire, EMS, and K-9 who make the ultimate sacrifice while serving, honored Elmstrand, Ruge, and Finseth.
Metal4Valor board member and former Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski led Wednesday mornings press conference.
Metal4Valor in partnership with Premier Metal Art, created three replica badges to be sent to Burnsville in honor of the three fallen heroes. Each piece is handcrafted and personalized for the fallen hero.
