Never say never when it comes to seemingly cold cases.

Almost exactly 15 years later, an arrest has been made in the case of murdered real estate agent, Ashley Okland.

Okland, 27, was killed while she was working an open house event on April 8th, 2011 at a West Des Moines townhouse development. Since then, her death has haunted realtors across the state.

Kristin Ramsey was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of first-degree murder in connection to Okland's death.

Ramsey was booked on Tuesday and is being held in lieu of a $2 million bond. No additional details, including a possible motive for Ramsey or what evidence was found that indicated her, have been released.

It is this case that led to the invention of the Iowa Cold Case Unit:

Okland worked for Iowa's largest real estate firm, Iowa Realty. Ramsey started working for one of the company's businesses, Midland Title & Escrow, a few months after Okland was killed.

Des Moines Assistant Police Chief Jody Hayes said Ashley's death has forever changed how realtors conduct open houses.

No other arrests are expected in the case.

On April 8th, 2011, Okland was found shot inside a model home by an employee of the development company. The employee called 911 and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Hayes said Ashley's story "has kept many of us awake at night" as they've been looking for evidence to lead to an arrest in the case.
