Jack Trice & His Mark On Athletics

At Iowa State, Jack was a member of the track and field team and the football team. At the university, he studied animal husbandry and planned to help Black farmers after he graduated. His life was cut tragically short. He sustained severe injuries in his second collegiate football game and died when he was just 21 in Ames.

Iowa State is planning a year-long series of activities to honor Jack Trice, culminating with the Jack Trice Legacy game on October 7th and a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of his death on October 8th.

George Trice, the Executive Director of the Trice Legacy Foundation, said in Hy-Vee's release:

Jack Trice always wanted to do more than his part to help others. It’s great to partner with a company like Hy-Vee that also goes above and beyond in the communities it serves.
