The Iowa State Patrol announced Wednesday that Iowa State Trooper Ted Benda has died form injuries he sustained in a crash.

Iowa State Patrol said in a press release that the 37-year-old was the victim of a single-vehicle crash on October 14th as he traveled to assist Clayton County officials with a wanted suspect.

Trooper Ted Benda ISP #313 joined the Department of Criminal Investigations in 2005 with an assignment to the Special Enforcement Operations Bureau in Marquette.

He transferred to State Patrol in 2016, with District 8 out of Mason City and most recently was assigned to District 10 office of Oelwein.

Trooper Ted Benda leaves behind his wife, Holly, and their four young children as well as many friends, family, and colleagues.

"Rest in Peace, Trooper Benda...we have your 6 from here," the State Patrol wrote.
