Iowa Is In The Top 10 States That Vaccinate The Most
Vaccines have been a hot-button topic for some reason. In most recent times, vaccines really came into the forefront with the COVID-19 pandemic, but vaccines have been around for a long time. As you can see, Google Trends shows that the term "vaccine" has really taken off and has been used a lot in recent years.
Vaccines have been around long enough for most adults and almost all children, Millennials, and Gen Z to be vaccinated. Because of many reasons, not everyone is vaccinated. That's where this study comes into play. Which states have more people vaccinated than others? WalletHub gives us the answers.
Most recently, our friends at WalletHub came out with their new study, 2022’s States that Vaccinate the Most.
In order to determine the states in the U.S. that vaccinate most, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across three key dimensions:
- Children & Teenagers Immunization Rates
- Adult & Elderly Vaccination Rates
- Immunization Uptake Disparities & Influencing Factors
WalletHub evaluated the three dimensions using 17 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions.
Finally, WalletHub determined each state and the District’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score which gave them 2022’s States that Vaccinate the Most.
According to WalletHub, among the Quad-City states, Iowa is more vaccinated than Illinois. Iowa was ranked as the 8th most vaccinated state in the country. Iowa's overall score was 66.47. Here is how Iowa ranked in the three key dimensions:
- Children & Teenagers Immunization Rates - 9th
- Adult & Elderly Vaccination Rates - 6th
- Immunization Uptake Disparities & Influencing Factors - 25th
Illinois was a lot further down on this list. WalletHub found that Illinois was the 27th most vaccinated state. Illinois' overall score was 50.71, and this is how they ranked in the three key dimensions:
- Children & Teenagers Immunization Rates - 20th
- Adult & Elderly Vaccination Rates - 34th
- Immunization Uptake Disparities & Influencing Factors - 21st
The most vaccinated state is Massachusetts, and the least vaccinated state is Mississippi.
