Allow us to introduce you to Honey Hill Orchard in teeny tiny Waterman, Illinois (which is located just south of Dekalb, IL), it was named one of the Best Apple Picking Spots in the country according to the Yelp Elites. Honey Hill Orchard ranked 9th on the Yelp list, and what exactly makes it so unique? Well, Honey Hill Orchard is the epitome of a local family-owned business, on their site the owner Kathy Askelson Bock says...

"In 1965,  my dad, Hawken Askelson, decided to plant a few apple trees as a hobby... Dad decided that planting a few apple trees to provide fruit for our family would be a great idea... Within a few years, the trees were producing more apples than we could possibly use, so Dad set up shop in the garage and Honey Hill Orchard was born.  In 1977, my husband, Steve and I joined the business and worked alongside my parents... the orchard continued to grow and provide a place for thousands of visitors to enjoy a fall day in the country."

The orchard is famous for its donuts, the apple cider, and it is free to go to Honey Hill Orchard but you do have to purchase a picking bag to actually enter the apple orchard fields. For more information on this fantastic family-run orchard that is perfect for a fall fun activity click here!
