Field of Dreams Project Expands: $13 Million in New Funding
The future of the Field of Dreams Movie Site continues to grow as project leaders announced major new investments today. This funding hopes to turn the iconic baseball destination into a year-round attraction for visitors across Iowa and the United States.

Three Iowa families and business leaders recently committed a combined $10 million to the project through the ongoing “Bring It Home” campaign. The contribution, considered one of the largest private gifts in the project’s history, comes from Andy Butler and Debi Butler, Craig Breitbach and Lisa Breitbach, and the McCoy Group. In addition, the state of Iowa announced $3 million in Destination Iowa funding to support continued development at the site.
The funding will help expand the property while preserving the original movie field and farmhouse made famous in the 1989 film, Field of Dreams. Planned additions include a new professional ballpark, youth baseball and softball facilities, educational programming, and expanded recreational space.
The new ballpark will officially open with the inaugural If You Build It High School Series from June 17th through the 26th, featuring Iowa high school baseball teams from across eastern Iowa competing at the site.
The complex will also host the Northwoods League All-Star festivities on July 7th and 8th, 2026, including a Home Run Challenge and All-Star Game featuring some of the top collegiate summer baseball players in the country. Former Chicago Cubs player and World Series champion Ben Zobrist is scheduled to appear during the event.
Project organizers also announced the Field of Dreams Ballpark will become home to a Northwoods League team beginning in 2027, marking another major step in establishing Dyersville as a premier tourism destination in Iowa.
Add in events like the Ghost player games, upcoming Velocity Festival, and future MLB games and Dyersville may just become the official home of all thing's baseball.
