Guy Fieri Digs Into a Burger from a Famous Wisconsin Dive Bar

Few comfort shows hit quite like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which has been a Food Network institution for nearly 20 years, believe it or not. In the past, I've written about the Iowa restaurants series host Guy Fieri has profiled, and a recently reuploaded video of the man himself stopping at a Wisconsin dive caught my attention over the weekend.

Fieri has been to many Wisconsin diners, drive-ins, and dives over the years. One particular visit to an unapologetic "dive" in Superior, WI continues to circulate on the internet, and bring attention to a cozy eatery that has been serving generations of locals and tourists.

Guy Fieri's Visit to Anchor Bar & Grill in Superior, WI:

On an episode of Triple-D that premiered back in 2011, Fieri dropped by Anchor Bar & Grill in Superior, WI, an eatery that proudly bills itself as a "dive." Anchor is famous for its barrage of burgers. Sure, there are no shortage of burger joints in the state of Wisconsin, but the depth of ingredients Anchor deploys on their more-than-a-dozen offerings is noteworthy in itself. Some of the ingredients Anchor piles onto their burgers includes:

• Mushrooms
• Cashews
• Jalapenos
• Pineapple
• Cream cheese/olives

To date, Anchor Bar & Grill keeps their menu strictly beef; no chicken nor fish necessary. It's allowed them to hyper-specialize in a popular yet particular facet of American cuisine that's clearly served them well for decades:

[Anchor Bar & Grill is] a small but a very unique and popular establishment. We serve burgers and fries (that’s it folks-no chicken or fish) and according to many people we have the best in the, well I have heard city, twin ports, state and world so take your pick. Many times we get very busy and crowded. We have very limited seating and staff so keep in mind we are not a fast food place. For the most part people say it is worth the wait. We have only one deep fryer and a small grill but put out lots of food on it. In the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives clip, which was reuploaded to the Food Network YouTube channel just a couple days ago, Fieri and his team to get access to a great deal of Anchor Bar & Grill in a short amount of time. He shows how the cooks prepare the menu burgers on their menu, the grilled lined with over a dozen patties, and a plethora of options coming out of the kitchen, piping hot and piled high.
