Driver Tried Switching Seats At A Traffic Stop, But The Car Backed Into The Cop
A Florida man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to switch seats with a passenger when they got pulled over for a traffic stop. The problem came when he left the car in reverse - not park, which caused it to roll into the deputy's patrol car.
The incident occurred near the intersection of North Florida Avenue and West Country Club Drive around 2:50pm in Hillsborough County.
The sheriff's office released the bodycam and dashcam footage from the incident, showing the car rolling backwards into the patrol vehicle after the driver moved to the passenger seat but left the car in reverse.
Police arrested 30-year-old Farnardo Alexander Jr walked away from the crash, but was quickly located and arrested.
Alexander faces several felony charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
“Trying to avoid responsibility only makes matters worse,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “If you choose to flee or deceive deputies, expect to face the consequences. In Hillsborough County, we will hold you accountable for your actions.”
