Kentucky Woman Arrested at Disney World for Meth Possession
A family trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” took a dramatic turn when a Kentucky woman was arrested at Walt Disney World for possessing methamphetamine.
Security stop leads to drug discovery at the park entrance
The incident occurred on May 20 at the resort’s Ticket and Transportation Center, where Disney security noticed suspicious items inside a guest’s personal belongings.
According to the arrest report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Brandi Asher, of London, Kentucky, was stopped by park security after they saw a tin can containing unusual contents. When asked what the items were, Asher reportedly referred to them as “medicine” and “goodies, headache powder.”
The attempt to discard items raises red flags
Asher appeared nervous and told security to throw the items away. When staff explained that wasn't an option, she attempted to put them back in her pocket. She was instructed to leave the items in the bin for inspection.
Deputy Lucas Arreguin arrived and examined the tin. Inside, he found a white crystal-like substance and a hollow tube, which he identified as typical components used with narcotics. A field test confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
Suspect claims she didn’t realize meth was in her bag
Asher allegedly told deputies she was visiting Orlando with her family and staying at the West Gate Resort. She said an unknown person had offered her the drugs at the hotel. Believing the meth was in a different bag, Asher claimed she didn’t know it was with her when she went through security.
“She did not tell her husband about the methamphetamines,” the report stated, adding that she was cooperative and honest during questioning.
Trespass warning issued, criminal charges filed
Authorities measured the meth at approximately 1.5 grams. Asher received a trespass warning from Disney and was taken to the Booking and Release Center. She was released the next day after posting a $5,000 bond and later pleaded not guilty on June 1.
Asher now faces formal charges of methamphetamine possession in Orange County, Florida.
