The Quad City Storm ended their weekend series against the defending SPHL champions, the Evansville Thunderbolts, with one win and one loss in a competitive home-and-away matchup.

Thunderbolts Take Friday Win at Vibrant Arena

The Storm faced a tough start last Friday night at Vibrant Arena, falling 5-1 to Evansville. Forward Scott Kirton led the Thunderbolts with two goals, while goaltender Kristian Stead stopped 31 shots to secure the win. Rookie defenseman Donte DiPonio tallied the only Storm goal of the night.

Storm Bounce Back on the Road

The tables turned Saturday when the Storm traveled to Evansville and spoiled the Thunderbolts’ championship banner-raising ceremony with a commanding 5-2 victory. Leif Mattson had a standout performance, scoring a hat trick that included the game’s opening, second, and final goals. Team captain Tommy Tsicos and forward Devin Sanders also added goals, while goaltender Zane Steeves made 36 saves to seal the win.

Upcoming Home Games and Promotions

The Storm return to Vibrant Arena this weekend for two home matchups against the Huntsville Havoc — Saturday at 7:10 p.m. and Sunday at 2:10 p.m. Saturday marks Hot Wheels Game Day, featuring a pregame auto show beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot, free with a game ticket. Players will wear special Hot Wheels-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Fans can also purchase a special ticket package that includes a limited-edition “Storm-Hot Wheels mechanics shirt” at QuadCityStorm.com.

Sunday’s Howl-O-Ween Game invites kids to wear costumes for postgame trick-or-treating on the ice. Dogs are also welcome as part of the team’s “Pucks and Paws” promotion, with proof of current rabies vaccination required for entry.
