Packer Fans Have Some Interesting Thoughts About Minnesota
The Minnesota Vikings are rolling out the welcome mat for thousands of football fans from Wisconsin this weekend as the Green Bay Packers head to Minnesota to kick off the 2026 NFL season. Here's what those fans are thinking about the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Packers Fans Are Crossing the Border for Vikings Game
Since none of the states bordering Minnesota are home to an NFL team —looking at you, North and South Dakota, as well as Iowa —the yearly series with the Packers has become Minnesota's classic border battle.
The last time these two teams played each other in the North Star State was back on January 4th, when the Vikings beat the Packers, 16 to 3. Sunday's game at U.S. Bank Stadium is now the 132nd time these two teams have met on the gridiron, dating back to the first time the Packers headed across the border to take on the then-expansion Vikings back on October 22, 1961!
Minnesota and Wisconsin may be neighbors and share a common border, but that's where some of the similarities end-- especially when it comes to football. And while U.S. Bank Stadium is the Vikings' home turf, don't be surprised if you encounter more than just a few green and gold jerseys this weekend. The Things Wisconsin Fans Think About Minnesota
Let me start off by saying I'm a reformed Wisconsinite. Full disclosure here: Yes, I was born over in America's Dairyland, I went to college there (shout out to UW-Eau Claire!), and it's where I lived my entire life until I met the love of my life and moved to the North Star State back in 2012.

However, now that I've been a fully naturalized Minnesotan for well over a decade, I've come to realize that I love it here-- I really do. There are MANY aspects of life here in the Gopher State that can't be beaten anywhere-- including my home state of Wisconsin.
That said, though, back when I lived over in western Wisconsin, I would often head over to Minnesota to see friends or spend some time in the Twin Cities. And, whenever I did, these thoughts went through my mind. And, yes, I see now that they ARE quite ridiculous.
Now, please keep in mind that I DO NOT feel the same way about all of these anymore. But I will admit that some of the following are definitely thoughts I used to have, back in the day.
