Hate that feeling when you see those red and blue lights behind.  Well, if you can't see them behind you, maybe that is why you are getting pulled over.

According to Iowa law 321.438, "A person shall not drive a motor vehicle equipped with a windshield, sidewings, or side or rear windows which do not permit clear vision."

In other words, if your vehicle windows are full of mud, dirt, salt, pollen, or any other muck, it can be classified as an "obstructed view," and you can be pulled over and ticketed.

This also means you can't clean a 6x6 portion of your window and call it good.  The entire window needs to be clear.

Your Large Passenger Is Also An Obstructed View Problem

How big is your passenger?  Can you see around or over them?

Another Iowa law, 321.363, states, "No passenger in a vehicle shall ride in such position as to interfere with the driver’s view ahead or to the sides, or to interfere with the driver’s control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle."

That section of the law also talks about an overloaded vehicle.  So next time you go on a shopping spree or buy a giant bouquet of balloons for a birthday party, make sure you are in a big enough vehicle so they are not blocking your view.

In Iowa, an obstructed view driving violation is classified as a simple misdemeanor, which can come with a fine of $105 to $855.

It might be best to hit up a car wash...or at least bust out the hose and spray the dirt off your windows.
