Illinois Has Some Of The Most Supernatural Encounters In America

Who doesn't love a spooky story?  We all have or know someone who has wild ghosts, UFOs, or Bigfoot stories. If you're a fan of these legends, I have great news, a new study has put together the numbers and has found the states you are most likely to have a supernatural sighting or experience.

Fun fact, last year Illinois was in the top 10 most supernatural sightings coming in 8th place.

If you love these myths and legends you may want to move to one of these top five states. They got these numbers based on reports, so if the supernatural sightings weren't reported... they were counted.

Top 5 Supernatural States

3. New York
4. Maryland
5. Florida

Illinois' Supernatural Numbers

It looks like Illinois has a solid number of strange sightings every year, and actually ranked 8th overall for supernatural sightings in 2021, and 12th in 2022. Congrats to Illinois for all the aliens and ghosts.

This study looked at the number of sightings in the year 2021. Illinois has reported 4,025 UFO sightings a year. When it comes to ghosts, they come in at 2,529.

Illinois actually ranks 9th for alien sightings... so keep an eye on the sky.

In total Illinois has about 191,000 supernatural sightings every year. Places like Iowa have 145,000. Wisconsin comes in at 152,000. Both are respectable numbers, but Illinois still holds the most sightings over these two.

Stories about the supernatural are always fun, and I look forward to seeing next year's numbers. Hopefully, my home state of Iowa can pump those numbers up. I've seen Big Foot at least like 5 times!
