Joliet, Illinois Man Jumps Off Porch, Rolls Away To Avoid Arrest

One suspect apparently didn't have the most airtight escape plan.

Surely, at some point when you're being arrested, you understand that you're cooked and quit trying to run off. That wasn't the case for one guy in Joliet.

Angell Garcia really didn't make it easy for officers when he was caught speeding. According to the court petition to deny pretrial release, police officers Ditello and Bell were around Midland Avenue near Black Road when Officer Ditello saw a Chrysler 200 hauling tail. The officer caught up with him at Black Road and Larkin Ave.

Then it really became a mess.

The Chrysler then crossed the white line at the red light and started backing up towards the squad cars, then illegally turned while the light was still red.

Police pursued him and the officers briefly lost him. But after running the plates, which showed an address on Kelly Ave., police went there and sure enough, there was Garcia. He began running towards the back of the house when police went to enter.

Garcia then, as the court file indicates, fell off the porch through a gate, landed on the ground, rolled away, and tried to pull his arms away from officers, despite them telling him he's under arrest and needs his arms behind his back. Garcia kicked an officer in the leg, which didn't help his case at all.

This is the 2nd time in 3 months that Garcia has spent time in the resort that is the Will County Jail. July 4th-5th, he was kept in on a domestic battery arrest. Back in April, he was arrested in connection to a shooting that happened near his house on Kelly Ave.

Now, he's facing charges including reckless driving, resisting a police officer, aggravated fleeing the police and aggravated battery.
