Two years ago today Katie and I were sitting at Genesis East waiting for our new daughter to be born. After years of infertility issues, we had decided to adopt and found our new friend Julie who agreed to be a surrogate for us. Over the nine months of her pregnancy, and the last two years, we've become super close to her and her family. Kamdyn calls her Aunt JuJu.

Densie Hnytka from WQAD was in the studio yesterday and we were discussing her pregnancy, and I told her being a parent is hands down the coolest thing that's ever happened to me. I never thought I could love another child as much as my oldest daughter Kaitlyn. That all changed when Kamdyn was born. I knew the minute she grabbed my finger right after she was born, that I would love her as just as much as daughter no.1.

In the last two years she has gone from a tiny baby who needed me for everything, to a two year old who runs and talks and screams and looks at me and says "Hi daddy" while she's grabbing for whatever I'm eating. Today Katie and I are going to take her to the park, shoot some new pictures of her and then have her favorite meal, hot dogs and mac and cheese. Throw in some cake and ice cream, and the day should be complete. My wife reminded me this week that the saying, "The days are long but the years are short." is very true.
