Lighting of the Commons and My Grandma’s Tree Today
Today is the big day my Grandmother finally gets a memorial in the Quad Cities and it's perfect timing.
lt's been six years since my Grandmother, Helen, passed. I shared more about her life in a blog earlier this month.
Tonight is the Lighting of the Commons downtown Moline for an afternoon and evening full of holiday cheer, hot cider and cocoa, local music, crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides and even Santa Claus will make his appearance for this Quad Cities event. It even snowed just in time to make it feel evenmore like the holidays.
At 6 p.m. tonight, the tree lighting ceremony takes place at the TaxSlayer Center, complete with fireworks and kickoff of the holiday season.
If you think of it, take a picture with your family, in all the wonder and joy of today's happiness at the tree and post it on social media using the hashtag #lightupforGG. These moments, the smiles and laughs, the magic of the huge, lighted tree, are where the memories of Granmother will live on.
