7-year-old Jaden Merrick already has a pretty impressive trophy case.

One year removed from a setting a world age group record with his time in the Cedar Valley's Park-to-Park 5K, the now 7-year-old son of Brent and Sabrina Merrick recently increased his workload an additional 10 miles en route to another record.

Merrick finished Saturday's Park-to-Park half marathon in one hour, 43 minutes and 34 seconds, beating the previous record by 19 seconds!

So what's next?

Jaden has indicated a desire to compete in Junior Olympic races. He'll turn 8 next month and is looking forward to cross country and eventually track's 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter runs in the 8-and-under age group.

Despite his world-record distance running ability, Jaden Merrick remains grounded.

"He's just a normal 7-year-old kid," said his father, Brent Merrick. "He'll go out and run a half marathon and then two hours after it's over he's over playing on the playground with his friends." [Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier]

I don't know if I'd be able to bike 13 miles in that amount of time! Well done, Jaden!
