What Stores Will Be Closed On Thanksgiving In Illinois?

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and if you are a last-minute shopper in Illinois, hopefully this encourages you to plan ahead a little bit.

Over the course of the last couple of years, major stores across Illinois and the U.S. have done right by their employees by closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas. People working at those stores are no different than you and I. They have families and want to celebrate too. Your inability to plan and shop ahead shouldn't require others to make a sacrifice so you can get butter.

We can assume that all locally-owned businesses will be closed on Thanksgiving. I mean, that's a given (get it?). But this is the list of businesses that you might think will be open on Thanksgiving Day but are in fact closed.

Walmart Closing On Thanksgiving in Illinois

For many years, Walmart has been a place to count on to get a quick grocery item or two on Thanksgiving that you forgot to get. In the past couple of years, the major retailer has been closed on Thanksgiving to let their employees spend time with their families. Once again, Walmart stores across Illinois will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Hy-Vee Closed On Thanksgiving In Illinois

Similar to Walmart and Target, Iowa-based Hy-Vee - the best grocery store in the U.S. - will be closed on Thanksgiving, too.

Hy-Vee announced the news that they will once again be closed on Thanksgiving while revealing cheap meal options customers can purchase. Although all Hy-Vee locations will be closed on Turkey Day, pre-ordered meal kits can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
