Man Stranded In 130-Foot-Tall Gas Station Sign In Illinois

We may get stressed at work but honestly this dude should win Employee of the Month for the rest of his career.

In Wilmington, Illinois this week, a worker was doing some maintenance on a tall gas station sign along I-55. The Petro, which is at 24225 Lorenzo Road in Wilmington, was the site of the issue.

The lift he had used to get inside of the sign to work on it had a malfunction around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. He got stuck inside the sign while he was working on it, a full 130-feet in the air.

But he was chill about it, even giving the news chopper a thumbs up:

As you can probably guess, there's no ladder in the sign.

He was stuck up there for hours with a huge fire rescue, police response, and of course, a crane.

Just before 4:00 p.m., the man was seen being lowered into a crane basket, brought to the ground, and put in an ambulance.

Fire rescue said it was a challenge to find a lift tall enough to reach him, as most of their ladders go to 100-feet. The firemen found a lift that could get it done at a job site in Joliet.

Good news: it looks like Employee of the Month is okay as he refused medical treatment and is just fine.
