Man With Davenport Ties Faces Over 200 Counts Of Sexual Assault Charges In Wisconsin

A man with ties to Davenport was arrested earlier this month and is facing over 200 counts of sexual assault charges. Shane Stanger is the man in custody and is being accused of sexually assaulting victims between the ages of 10 to 40 years old.

Shane M. Stanger was arrested on March 1 in Racine County, Wisconsin and is facing over 200 counts of sexual assault charges.

According to a press release by the Racine County Sherriff's Office via social media on Wednesday, on February 28th, 2021, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a sexual assault in the town of Rochester.

Officials say they learned that a female party located numerous videos on a laptop computer of herself being sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance. The female victim made a duplicate copy of the videos that she discovered and turned them over to the Racine County Sherriff's Department.

Deputies say that the female advised that she had no recollection of the sexual assaults and believed she was drugged. The male acquaintance accused of sexually assaulting her was later identified as Shane M. Stanger, who was located and taken into custody.

In the press release, officials say that The Racine County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted a forensic examination of Stanger’s laptop computer, and cell phone. Investigators discovered numerous acts of sexual assaults to the original victim, an assault to an additional adult victim, an assault to a juvenile victim, and several videos of victims showering and/or using the restroom without their permission.

On Wednesday,  Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling held a press conference about the case. Sheriff Schmaling called Stanger a “sick pervert” and that “needs to be held accountable for what he’s been doing.”

According to our news partner, Local 4 News, Stanger’s most current address is listed as being in the 2800 block of Elsie Avenue in Davenport.

Current charges against Stanger include:

• 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of an Unconscious Victim (87 Counts)
• 3rd Degree Sexual Assault (4 counts)
• Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts)
• Representations Depicting Nudity, Person Under 18 (3 Counts)
• Representations Depicting Nudity (50 Counts)
• Invasion of Privacy (49 Counts)

Officials from the Racine County Sherriff's Office say the  investigation is ongoing and additional charges from out-of-state are forthcoming.

Stanger is currently being held at the Racine County Jail on a $5,020,000 bond.
