
Did You Know It Was -59 Degrees in Independence, Iowa Wednesday???
Even though the entire state of Iowa is in a Heat Advisory on Wednesday, the city of Independence has completely isolated itself from the heat as the National Weather Service in Des Moines was reporting that at 1:07 PM in Buchanan County it was 36-below zero with a wind chill of -59*.
Meanwhile, just 30 miles west of Independence, Waterloo was reporting a current temp of 86* with a heat index of 91*.
At the same time at the South Pole, it was -40* with a wind chill of -73*.
Obviously, the weather instruments have something wrong with them at the Independence weather station, and the National Weather Service in Des Moines agrees:
