Traffic may be a little tricky this Thursday and Friday due to the construction of the new I-74 River Bridge.

On Tuesday, officials from the new I-74 River Bridge announced that more road closures will be happening in Moline.

In the announcement, officials say that weather permitting, on Thursday, December 3rd, 4th Avenue in Moline will be reduced to one lane between 23rd Street and 19th Street. There will also be intermittent road closures until approximately 2:30 p.m. the same day.

The lane reductions and intermittent road closures will allow contractors to move materials and equipment.

These are the alternate routes during the intermittent closures:

Iowa-bound: Motorists trying to get to the Iowa-bound on-ramp at 6th Ave can take southbound (left) 23rd Street, then westbound 7th Avenue and turn right onto the new connecting road to the 6th Avenue on-ramp.

Continuing west on 4th Ave: Motorists can take northbound 23rd Street, turn left (west) on River Drive, south (left) on 19th Street, then right (west) on 4th Ave.

Officials also announced another road closure which will happen on Friday, December 4th.

According to officials, weather permitting, on Friday, December 4th, the existing Illinois-bound I-74 off-ramp to River Drive in Moline will be closed. The off-ramp will be closed between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
