Despite a recent decrease in national unemployment overall, some businesses are still letting people go. And unfortunately, the number of unemployed people is about to go up drastically in Moline.

According to The Quad-City times, Metropolitan Medical Laboratory, a staple in the Quad Cities, is being sold. With the sale, they report that "at least 136 employees from the Moline location [will be] out of work."

Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings, known as LabCorp, is responsible for the purchase of the Quad Cities business. Per the QC Times, LabCorp is one of the largest clinical laboratory networks in the world, based out of Burlington, North Carolina. The deal is expected to close around April 1, according to a letter sent to patients.

It's always rough seeing things like this happen, but 136 is an especially high number. The words "at least" are never usually promising, but hopefully it doesn't go much higher than that!
