New YMCA Facility Coming To Eastern Iowa Town
A new fitness option is coming to LeClaire.
The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley has announced that they will be opening a branch in LeClaire. It will be on Eagle Ridge Road near Welcome Center Drive.
It's going to cost about $18 million, with the cost being split between the city and the Y.
Besides a cardio area that will have a view of the Mississippi River (a nice view always makes cardio suck less), the facility will have:
- full aquatics area (lap lane pool and space for water exercise classes)
- full basketball court
- weight room
- walking/running track on second floor
- group exercise space
- the EGYM
LeClaire Mayor Dennis Gerard told WHBF:
The City of LeClaire has done a number of surveys over the last few years asking residents what their priorities are for recreational amenities. The top answer is consistently a need for a new recreation facility, including a pool. The Y is the perfect solution and perfect partner for the City. The Y is known as a place that builds strong bodies, strong minds, and strong communities. We’re excited to get started with this project, bringing quality fitness and recreation to the residents of our city and beyond.
It's still going to be a minute before you can enjoy the facility. Construction on the LeClaire Y is set to start this summer, it's expected to be done in fall 2026. There are about 50,000 members of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley that will be able to use the LeClaire facility.
