QC Mall Store Closing Its Doors
It seems like a lot of QC retailers have closed lately, but I'm particularly sad about this one. In this day and age, it's rare to find an actual brick and mortar bookstore where you can browse the aisles for your favorite author's paperbacks. Book World at South Park Mall was one of those places, and now it's going to be gone for good.
According to WQAD, the retailer will be closing all of its locations, with liquidation beginning this week. 325 employees will lose their jobs in the closure, which also includes stores in Freeport, Galena, Sterling, Dekalb, as well as Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and North Dakota.
Sales will go on until inventory is completely sold, so you will have a little bit more time to grab books on clearance.
It's unfortunate to lose another QC store, especially since malls are not doing well overall. I expect the trend to only continue in the future, sadly. Make sure to stop by Book World and show them some love this holiday season.
