When tragedy strikes, there is nothing like a man's best friend to help.

Orlando has been gut-wrenching for all of us. The thoughts of the innocent people having to endure the injuries and death. The horrifying texts parents and loved ones were receiving from inside the bar. Even the counts of people hiding under dead bodies to survive.

It is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

That sentence alone, has taken me until now to start digesting. Piece by piece, like you, I am trying to make sense of it all.

One of the best things I read today, was news from KWQC.com about the QC Comfort Dog, Gracie. This little ball of love and support is headed to Orlando to help survivors in the way she knows how.

I have watched the animals I grew up with offer love, comfort, and support to my family in ways no one else could. It's nothing that is quite explainable. It's just the nurturing effect animals can have on humans.

Gracie is part of a K-9 charity through Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. She has helped others in and around the Quad Cities and is en route to bringing the same love and compassion to those who need it most in our country right now.

All my love, thoughts and prayers with the victims and surviving loved ones are in Orlando this week.
