Happy St. Patrick’s Day Quad Cities! There are so many great and rich traditions throughout the Quad Cities, Midwest, and America when it comes to this holiday. One weird tradition my family picked up was watching the leprechaun movies. A very interesting and diverse collection of horror movies starring an evil leprechaun!

The first Leprechaun movie came out in 1993. It starred Warwick Davis, who would play the Leprechaun for 6 of the 8 movies. It also starred Jennifer Aniston! She would not be coming back to this franchise. .

Some of these movies are awful while some are good fun, and have some great scares. Let's get into our list.

8. Leprechaun: Origins (2014)

Two young couples backpacking through Ireland discover that one of Ireland's most famous legends is a terrifying reality. 3.2 stars on IMDb

Honestly I dislike this movie less than some of the other on this list when it comes to story, BUT it gets last place since their is 0 charm. It also doesn't have Warwick Davis, and has no ties to the other movies. WHY DID THEY USE THE SAME NAME?!

7. Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996)
Our deadly leprechaun is in space to woo a beautiful princess who is impressed with his gold and desires to separate him from it. 3.5 stars on IMDb.

Some fans LOVE this movie. I just don't really get it. For me it's more of a "so bad it's good." Type movie. Leaning more towards the bad, but I can tell they had fun making it which makes me happy to watch it.

6. Leprechaun 6: Back 2 Tha Hood (2003)

When Emily Woodrow and her friends happen on a treasure chest full of gold coins, they fail to heed the warnings of a wise old psychic, who had foretold that they would encounter trouble with a very nasty and protective Leprechaun. 3.9 stars on IMDb.

This movie has some fun and good moments, but it just wasn't really necessary.

5. Leprechaun 5: In the Hood (2000)

When three rappers want to get even with a pimp, they accidentally unleash a leprechaun who goes on a killing rampage in tha 'hood. 3.8 stars on IMDb.

I remember going into this movie wanting to hate it, and I for sure didn't love it, but was also surprised at how many parts I did end up liking. There are a lot of questionable and dated moments however. So yeah it's pretty bad.

4. Leprechaun Returns (2018)

The Leprechaun returns once again, when a group of girls unwillingly awaken him after they tear down a cabin so that they can build a new sorority house. 5 stars on IMDb

This movie will most likely keeping getting higher the more I watch these. It's actually pretty solid, and tries to tie back to the originals, but no Warwick Davis is always sad.

3. Leprechaun 2 (1994)

On his one thousandth birthday, an evil leprechaun selects the descendant of one of his slaves to have as his bride, leaving it up to the girl's boyfriend to save her. 4.6 stars on IMDb

Honestly out of all the movies I forget this one the most, but I do remember it being a good sequel, it was also more goofy, and a bit awkward. I am re-watching this on this year, so it may end up dropping.

2. Leprechaun 3 (1995)

An evil leprechaun finds himself in Las Vegas, where he proceeds to cause mischief by killing people, granting twisted wishes, and infecting a young man with his green blood. 5 stars on IMDb.

For me this is when the franchise knew it was more comedy than horror. It does a great job mixing it all together.

1. Leprechaun (1993)

An evil, sadistic Leprechaun goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold. 4.8 stars on IMDb

Warwick Davis kills it! It scared me as a kid, and now I have a lot of fun watching it with friends. The orginal holds a special place in my heart!
