As someone with Irish heritage and who just loves food, craving a Reuben sandwich from the best places that make them in the Quad Cities is my M.O.

Yes, you can crave corned beef in other ways but who doesn't want it piled high between two pieces of marble rye bread, slathered in 1,000 island dressing, topped with sauerkraut, and a piece of Swiss cheese? My stomach literally gurgled as I typed that.

According to cookingwithcocktailrings.com, the Reuben sandwich isn't as Irish as you think it is. The sandwich was thought to have been created in Omaha, Nebraska mid-poker game. But the corned beef has some Irish roots, kind of.

The Irish-corned beef relationship is considered to be much more Irish-American than it is purely Irish.
