If you're a beer drinker in Iowa, 2017 is looking up. Although no new breweries are currently planned for the QC (thus far, although there's still time), there are several scheduled to open in 2017 that are within a short driving distance.

The Des Moines Register reports that Backpocket Brewing Company, which is located in Coralville, is expanding to both Dubuque and Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids location will be a pilot pub for testing new beers, and the Dubuque locale will have a tasting room. Both of the new Backpockets are scheduled to open some time before the end of winter.

Other openings include Parkside Brewery in Burlington expanding with a brewpub that also serves food this February, Big Grove Brewery opening an Iowa City location that will feature a food counter and an outdoor patio, and 7 Hills Brewery in Dubuque will be making its debut this spring.

A bit further away, but still worth noting- Des Moines' Exile Brewing Co is set to undergo a large expansion which will include updated equipment and a renovation of their beer garden. They are expecting the updates to be completed by March.

Check out the rest of the openings here.
