We might be coming to the end of amusement park season for this year but next year already looks interesting.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is launching (pun intended) a new rollercoaster that isn't only a thrill ride, it's breaking multiple records.

According to NBC Chicago, the ride is called the "Wrath of Rakshasa".

It will be right across from the park's popular "Demon" ride and will include:

  • 3 trains with 3 rows of passengers seated seven across
  • 3,239 feet of track
  • ride vehicle pauses in a face-first cliffhanger hold before plummeting 171 ft.
  • a "beyond-vertical" 96-degree drop
  • five "gravity-defying" inversions
  • speeds of nearly 67 miles an hour

The records that it breaks include the world's steepest drop on a rollercoaster and the most inversions on a dive coaster, according to the park.

That would make me sick but it looks so fun! It's the park's first rollercoaster addition since 2019. Six Flags Great America has been dropping really cryptic clues about the new ride on social media, leading several to think they were getting rid of the "Demon" ride, but that's not the case. "Wrath of Rakshana" stands 180 ft. tall and will be in the County Fair section of the park.

The new ride is scheduled to debut next year.

Six Flags recently merged with Cedar Fair to create Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Since then, they've teased new investments in some rides and also putting some investments in their parks' food and beverages.
