Meet The New Wine Bar That's Now Open In Rock Island

A new year has brought with it a new wine bar for Rock Island.

Over New Year's weekend, Skylight Luxury Lounge opened it's doors at 1325 30th Street in Rock Island. It's a vibey, relaxed place, with comfy chairs and couches, easy lighting, and of course wines.

Skylight Luxury Lounge serves many kinds of wines at different prices and they will host events like poetry readings, karaoke nights, and game nights.

Skylight is owned by Skylar Willingham, who told the Quad-City Times that she's had the dream of opening her own wine lounge for two years. I love where her passion for wines came from: she was watching the TV show "Scandal". If you've seen "Scandal", you know that Olivia Pope often has a glass of wine with her and it prompted Skylar to do research into what kind of wine she was drinking, which inspired her to learn more about wine in general.

Willingham told the Times:

For those who aren't even familiar with wine, I am going to host some wine tasting events so people can get comfortable. And we're making sure my staff is updated so they can have educational conversations about the different wines and the process, the way that they're made, and things of that nature.

Skylight Luxury Lounge is open Monday-Thursday 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and on the weekends, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m. You can keep up with the latest from Skylight on their Facebook, Instagram, and website.
