How Stressed Out Is The Quad Cities Compared To Everywhere Else?
Life can be very stressful. Money, kids, work, family, and many other aspects of life all contribute to everyday stresses. One of the biggest stresses over the past two years has been the COVID-19 pandemic. While the pandemic has been major stress on everyone's lives, there are other factors that stress people in some states more than others. A new list has come out showing the most and least stressed states. We'll take a look at the two Quad-City states and how stressed they are.
Our friends at WalletHub have released their list of 2022's Most & Least Stressed States. To find out the most and least stressed states, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across four key dimensions:
- Work-Related Stress
- Money-Related Stress
- Family-Related Stress
- Health- & Safety-Related Stress
WalletHub then looked at those four dimensions using 41 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of stress.
After doing a bunch of math, WalletHub determined each state’s weighted average across all metrics to give them their overall scores. Those scores gave them the list of 2022's Most & Least Stressed States.
According to WalletHub, the Quad Cities area isn't that stressed out. Of course, we're looking at Iowa and Illinois who are ranked pretty low on this list.
WalletHub found that Illinois is the 37th most stressed state or the 14th least stressed state. Illinois' overall score was 40.66. Here is how Illinois ranked in the four key dimensions:
- Work-Related Stress - 13th
- Money-Related Stress - 30th
- Family-Related Stress - 44th
- Health- & Safety-Related Stress - 42nd
Iowa is even less stressed than Illinois. WalletHub found that Iowa is the 40th most stressed state, of the 11th least stressed state. Iowa's overall score was 39.24. Here is how Iowa ranked in the four key dimensions:
- Work-Related Stress - 20th
- Money-Related Stress - 44th
- Family-Related Stress - 45th
- Health- & Safety-Related Stress - 30th
Iowa is also ranked 50th in Most Affordable Housing.
We will say that we all get a little stressed when those barriers break when the Mississippi River is above the flood stage.
