Sunset Park Needs Clean Up Volunteers

You know those songs that randomly pop into your head without explanation? (Baby Shark anyone?) Some part of your brain clings to them, and no matter how hard you try, no matter how much time goes by, you know it.

For me, that song is the Clean Up Song from Barney. And somehow, I think my mom would be proud. But it's the song that pops into my head when my apartment needs tidying, and it's the song that popped into my head when I learned that Sunset Park needs clean up volunteers.

The Rock Island park is still reeling from the effects of this Spring's flooding; debris along lake and riverfront needs to be cleared, silt needs to be shoveled, bench boards need painting and replacing, and those are just some of the tasks at hand.

According to WQAD, the first cleanup is scheduled for this Sunday, August 11th, from 12 – 4 p.m.
