It's time for another #ThrowbackThursday jam!

Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week in 2008!

Lil Wayne had tasted success on the hip-hop chart before 2008, but his album Tha Carter III catapulted him into superstar status, thanks mostly to "Lollipop."

"Lollipop" initially reached #1 the week of May 3, 2008, but returned to #1 three weeks later---a feat that hadn't been achieved since 2001---and remained in the top spot for four additional weeks.

"Lollipop" totaled more than NINE MILLION copies sold worldwide in '08 and received a GRAMMY for Best Rap Song in 2009. Tha Carter III won the GRAMMY for Best Rap Album and earned a nomination for Album of The Year. [Wikipedia]

To this day, "Lollipop" remains the biggest hit of Lil Wayne's career...and has inspired millions of people to mimic his voice and (possibly) tattoo their faces... -Slater
