Is Moline Really Getting A Texas Roadhouse? Here’s What Reports (And Rolls) Say
"I'll believe it when I see it".
The chain restaurant with invariably the best rolls and butter seems to be gearing up to open it's first location on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities.
Right now, Texas Roadhouse has multiple Illinois locations and they have a restaurant on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities in Davenport, that stays busy. The traffic in that location may lighten up before too long.
The Reports
Texas Roadhouse has been in the process of expanding this year, opening new locations as well as Bubba's 33 locations (including one in Davenport).
Now, the rumor is that Texas Roadhouse is gearing up to open 25 new locations, including a new location in Moline.
As per anything, there's a lot of excitement about the possibility of a Texas Roadhouse in Moline. There's also a lot of skepticism. Here are a few of the most-liked comments on it:
Thank God! Signed, Iowa
About time! Now somebody bring a Monical’s Pizza!
Good adds jobs to the area
But.
There's plenty of people not totally buying it. A lot of comments are to the effect of:
Will believe it when I order a nice steak
I'll believe it when I see it.
Knowing how long restaurants take to open, I can see that argument.
Is There Truth To It?
It's not far-fetched. While Texas Roadhouse hasn't yet confirmed a new restaurant in Moline, they did buy some land earlier this year.
Back in June, the Moline City Council approved the sale of surplus property to Scout Capital Group LLC, which is the parent group of Texas Roadhouse. It's at 3620 38th Avenue, which has been long vacant. The city council also signed off on a sales tax rebate agreement on the land, which will provide up to $350,000 back to the developer if the restaurant does well.
Meanwhile, we'll have to keep an eye out for official word from Texas Roadhouse about a Moline opening and when.
