The Quad Cities’ Bridges Can Almost Span Everest

I'm not a big fan of math, and it was never my best subject in school. But sometimes numbers are fascinating. So, here's a Monday Math Fact!

One of the staples of the QCA is its bridges. There are seven in total, connecting different parts of the area, spanning a variety of distances. But together, they could almost span Mount Everest.

If you add up the lengths of the Crescent Rail, Davenport Skybridge, Fred Schwengel Memorial, Government, I-74, Rock Island Centennial and Sergeant John F. Baker Jr. bridges, it comes out to 20,062 ft. At its summit, Mount Everest is 29,000 ft. above sea level.

Everest isn't the only mountain the bridges stack up against. The tallest peak in North America is Mount Denali at 20,320 ft. The bridges are actually taller than Mt. Kilimanjaro. Granted, it's way different terrains, but it's still a pretty extensive workout.

If we stick to ground level, the bridges' lengths is just shy of the length of the Las Vegas Strip. The more you know!
