Who among us doesn't love a good sammie?

A sandwich never goes out of style. It's just a culinary staple. It's a light lunch at work, it's a good dinner with a side, it's even a breakfast option too. If it's a really flavorful sammie, we remember it and we'll be having it again.

Yelp has released it's latest list of best sandwich shops in each state and Iowa's favorite definitely looks delicious.

To do this, Yelp identified businesses in their 'Sandwiches' category that had a bunch of reviews mentioning the word 'sandwiches'. They then ranked them by how many reviews and how many good reviews the places got that mentioned the word.

Iowa's favorite sandwich shop isn't just a restaurant, but according to Yelp, it's a "mini-empire".

Iowa's Favorite Sammie Shop

Iowans love Charlotte's Kitchen in Johnston! Specifically, their Crab Rangoon chicken sandwich (that has wonton chips and rangoon sauce) is a favorite on Yelp. At the moment, they have 70 reviews and an average of 4.8 stars out of 5.

Yelp says that Charlotte's Kitchen's owner Michael Hanstad was inspired by childhood memories and learning to cook in the kitchen with his grandmother, Charlotte.

Their menu carries more than sandwiches though. They also have salads, wraps, ice cream, chicken tender baskets, and multiple sides. They often post new menu items and specials on their Facebook page.

There is also a Charlotte's Kitchen location in Indianola. Both the Johnson and Indianola locations have dine-in and drive-thru options. You can scroll through the Yelp reviews here.
