How much lower can it get? According to WQAD, QCA Medicare recipients are being targeted in a new scheme nicknamed "Brace Yourself" by the FBI.

According to a Clinton resident named Robert Turney, he received a phone call from someone claiming to be Medicare, saying they would send him a free medical brace and asking for his Medicare ID number.

Weeks later, Turney received a whopping $4,000 worth of medical braces. Only then did Turney begin to realize he had been scammed.

The FBI has reportedly been investigating claims of similar scams all across the country. Call centers in the Phillippines and Latin America are contacting Medicare recipients in America, then taking their medical ID and using it to collect money by billing Medicare.

Although the Medicare recipient does not get charged, the scam still steals money from the program, which is funded by taxpayers.
