Thousands Of Guests Attended Iowa Events Over Fourth of July Weekend
Events all over and around the Quad Cities are seeing huge numbers of attendees this year. From concerts, events, fireworks, and more. These numbers are showing that people are excited to get out of the house and finally be able to do something again.
City-Owned Entertainment Venues Hosted Nearly 10,000 Guests over this fourth of July Weekend, so it's safe to say it looks like Summer 2021 is in full swing and many want it to keep going strong.
In a press release, we saw that Cedar Rapids Iowa saw some great numbers last weekend.
The McGrath Amphitheatre and Paramount Theatre, both owned by the City of Cedar Rapids and managed by VenuWorks of Cedar Rapids, hosted nearly 10,000 people during five events over a three-day period over the Fourth of July weekend.
These events had some big names with Fitz and the Tantrums kicking the weekend off on Friday, July 2nd with a sold-out show. REO Speedwagon setting record attendance on Saturday with over 3,700 people!
Sunday morning welcomed Veritas church to the McGrath Amphitheatre. Later that night thousands came to the amphitheater to see the Freedom Festival fireworks.
Between these five events, VenuWorks estimates nearly $600,000 in consumer spending over the fourth of July weekend, directly related to the events. With $575,000 of that from the three touring concerts alone!
Michael Silva, executive director of VenuWorks of Cedar Rapids stated,
“This past weekend was very busy and very exciting for our team, especially coming out of the COIVD-19 pandemic. The numbers are still coming in, but we estimate 40% of our concert audience is from more than 50 miles outside of Cedar Rapids, which means they likely got hotel rooms in Cedar Rapids, ate at local restaurants, and spent money at local retailers.”
The fun doesn't stop there either, VenuWorks noted they are set to host a record number of events in the coming months at both the McGrath Amphitheatre and Paramount Theatre.
Summer 2021 is going to create awesome memories for many.
