“Twilight Baggage Drop” Debuts At Chicago O’Hare
Chicago O'Hare is the first airport to get a new feature.
United Airlines is debuting their new 'twilight baggage drop' feature now at their home airport, Chicago O'Hare.
According to United, the 'twilight bag drop' allows United Airlines passengers to drop off their checked bags the night before the trip. So basically if you have a United flight scheduled to take off between 5:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m., you can check your luggage curbside between 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. the night before.

The 'twilight bag drop' begins after months of testing.
Here's what it looks like, per NBC Chicago:

The debut happens as O'Hare is expecting it's busiest 4th of July travel period on record. From Wednesday, July 1st through Monday, July 6th, 1.62 million people are expect to go through O'Hare. It's an 8.1% increase from the same weekend in 2025.
Among other new things with United Airlines, their Relax Row layback-bed option in Economy class will start next year. Meanwhile last summer they started caviar service in their United Polaris Studio suites.
As for the 4th of July weekend, O'Hare's peak travel day is expected to be Sunday with 300,000 people going through the airport. It would make it one of the busiest days at O'Hare on record.
For now, the new 'twilight bag drop' is only at O'Hare. At the moment, there's no word of where or when United will expand it.
