School has started for most, but that doesn't mean summer is officially over just yet. This weekend, you can take full advantage of the remaining days of summer with a community cookout and competition!

The first-ever Best of the Wurst Cook-Off is happening in Davenport this Saturday. Four local businesses will come out, cook their best bratwursts, and at the end of the day festival-goers will vote on their favorite!

I'm not typically a bratwurst person myself, but with all the variety there will likely be, I might just have to check it out. I know, Alternating Currents is this weekend too. But you have to fill up the tank at some point, and brats are always a good way to go.

The cook-off is going down from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, over in the parking lot of the German American Heritage Center, 712 W. 2nd St., Davenport.

Admission is just $5 for adults and includes samples from each vendor. Admission is free for kids under 12. Proceeds will go toward programming and educational opportunities at the German American Heritage Center.
