Walk & Sidewalk Chalk Events To Help Normaleah Ovarian Cancer Initiative
We love a stroll on a fall day and it's even better when it's for a good cause.
Normaleah Ovarian Cancer Initiative is hosting two events soon that make it fun for the whole family.
Normaleah supports patients and survivors of all gynecologic cancers. They offer resources for health professionals, caregivers, and the community. September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and they have some events lined up for the community to "spread awareness, create hope, honor lives lost, and celebrate survivors".
First is Chalk the Walk. It will be Friday, September 13th at the pond in front of the Shive-Hattery/Geifman First Equity building in Bettendorf. It's free, family-friendly, and anyone can stop by from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. to "write a message of hope, encouragement, or love to honor someone's cancer journey".
On Saturday, September 14th, Normaleah will host Making Strides Together. It will start at 9:00 a.m. with walkers strolling a quarter-mile around the Shive-Hattery/Geifman pond.
There will also be a survivor recognition event and a Tribute Trail. You can buy walk tickets, make a donation or buy a Tribute Trail sign at this link.
It's $25 to be a single walker, $25 to be an angel walker (not in attendance). A Tribute Trail sign with only lettering is $25 while a sign with a logo and lettering is $50.
Longtime KWQC personality Paula Sands will be the honorary host of the walk.
You can get more information about Normaleah Ovarian Cancer Initiative, their events, and their services on their website.
