The Scott County Sheriff is warning residents of a new phone scam where the caller says you have an outstanding arrest warrant. According to a story from our news partner WQAD-TV, the caller, claiming to be Deputy Mark Adams, then tells the potential victim that the warrant can be paid off with a pre-paid debit card. This is definitely a scam.

The sheriff's office reminds everyone that they should be very cautious about ever divulging personal information over the phone and adds that they never ask for money or credit card information over the phone.

Be careful out there.
