Whites Pines Resort Is Permanently Closing
White Pines Resort in Mount Morris, Illinois, is permanently closing its doors citing the negative impact that coronavirus pandemic has had on the business.
In a heart-felt video from owner of White Pines Resort, Beth George, she announces that the resort in Mount Morris, Illinois is permanently closing its doors after 31 years under her ownership. George says that the resort has been loved by so many for over 80 years.
George says she was forced into bankruptcy citing the delayed reopening of businesses in Illinois, along with restrictions from Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. She says that White Pines Resort income is primarily based on events with large groups of people. Governor Pritzker announced a phased reopening plan which was the "nail in the coffin" according to George. In Governor Pritzker's phased reopening plan, groups will be limited to 50 people until a vaccine or treatment has been developed, which would still keep White Pines closed.
White Pines Resort is having a going out of business sale starting today, May 18th, and last through May 20th. This sale is to help the resort pay back brides who were planning on having their wedding at White Pines Resort.
George is asking people to continue to support Pine Creek Escape and Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center, along with other businesses that have been shut down.
