Why Were There Long Lines Outside Of Illinois Targets This Morning?
Has the Stanley cup risen from the grave?
It's only been a year since people pounced all over each other in Target to procure limited edition Valentine's Day Stanley tumblers. Some people sold their spot in line to other people in the hopes of getting a cup.

Another recent Target ambush was on Black Friday, to get exclusive Taylor Swift Eras Tour merch like a book and a vinyl record. But that's Black Friday, that can be expected.
So why were people lined up outside of Targets on Tuesday morning? I saw a pic of a line outside of the Moline Target (with a line that looked a lot like that one) and decided to investigate.
It's Not A Cup
This feels like an affirming reason for lines outside of a store. It's finally not over a cup. Multiple Targets across the country have had lines out the store because it's the release of an exclusive edition of a book called Onyx Storm. Honestly, I'm feeling encouraged that this is the reaction to the release of a book.
Onyx Storm is expected to be one of the biggest fantasy book releases this year. Author Rebecca Yarros clarified that the Target edition is the exact same story as the normal version but the Target-exclusive version has some additional artwork, including a map. It's the 3rd book in Rebecca Yarros' Empyrean series, which is set at a military college for dragon riders.
Multiple people online are saying that they had the book in their carts on Target's website this morning but could not checkout. Target does have a limited inventory of the special edition book.
Major hats-off to everyone who waited in negative temps outside of local Targets this morning to get their hands on the book. That's very admirable dedication to reading.
