Will There Be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Quad Cities? We Have the Answer
A week ago we told you the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds will host a weekend long St. Pat's party with live music, but will there be a parade in the Quad Cities?
Last year things were just starting to shut down with news of the coronavirus. Quad City St. Patrick's Day parade organizers decided to cancel out of concern there would be too many people gathering.
This year it seems the committee has the same concerns. The Quad Cities St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed, organizers announced Thursday.
“The St. Patrick Society has determined that due to the continuing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic it is in the best interest of public safety to postpone Grand Parade XXXV.2 to a later date THIS YEAR,” Joe Dooley, president of the St. Patrick Society of the Quad Cities, wrote in a Facebook post.
A new date will be announced once it has been approved by the respective city councils in Davenport and Rock Island. I guess we'll wait to see what next year brings. It's not like you can have a St. Pat's party in August. Stay tuned.
