The Quad Cities’ Favorite Halloween Candy
It's spooky season and Halloween is right around the corner. I know, it's hard to believe it's almost Halloween! You're probably putting up your decorations and getting yourself and the kids costumes, but don't forget you're going to need candy to hand out. If you're not sure what kind of candy to get, a new study has come out showing what kinds of candy Quad City kids want in their bags this year.
As you've probably seen by now, grocery stores throughout the Quad Cities have huge sections dedicated to Halloween candy. While most candies will suffice when it comes to handing it out Halloween, you'll want to make sure you get the candy that kids really want when they are trick-or-treating.
Our friends at Zippia came out with a list showing each state's favorite Halloween candy. To determine every state's favorite Halloween candy, Zippia used Google Trends and examined 50 different candies, giving them a good range of candies.
From there, Zippia determined what candy is searched for more than others in each state. If that candy was searched more than the other candies on the list, that determined that state's favorite candy.
Zippia said that they excluded gum, raisins, fruit snacks, and other things people try and pass off as candy from their candy list.
Before we show you the Quad Cities' favorites kinds of Halloween candy, here are some fun facts Zippia found in their research:
- Kit Kats and Twix bars are this year's overall favorite candies
- Last year's favorite was Starburst
- Chocolate candies are more popular than non-chocolate candies, but barely.
- 28 states prefer chocolate candies while 22 prefer gummies, fruit-flavored candies, and other non-chocolate candies.
- The states that like "weird candies" include Tennessee who likes Runts and Colorado who likes Black Liquorice.
- Unsurprisingly, candy searches soar in October.
Now let's show you the Quad Cities' favorite Halloween candies for 2021.
