6 Great Life Tips From Wisconsin’s 107-Year-Old Skydiving Man
One Midwestern man isn't letting age slow him down at all.
I've always been a fan of living life to the fullest and so has this guy. Al Blaschke was determined to make retirement fun for himself. And he's definitely succeeded.
Most recently, according to NBC Chicago, the 107-year-old went skydiving, breaking the record for being the oldest person to skydive. He's jumped 3 times now, all since 2017.
He bowls, he sings, and next on his to-do list is to be part of a theatre production.
Al was born in Janesville, Wisconsin and his family moved to Milwaukee in 1924. He's lived in Indiana, Arizona, and now Texas but he still goes home to Wisconsin often.
Al had several great nuggets of longevity advice for folks.
Cherish Your Family
A good reminder as they're driving you nuts traveling this summer.
Fill Your Days With Work You Love
Al was a tool and die maker when he was in the workforce. He had pride by having a job he loved.
Fall In Love In Your Own Time
Al was married to his second wife, Ellie, for 49 years before she passed away.
Find The Joys In Life
Al likes to sing, bowl, and he loves theatre. He says to practice the things you love:
You can keep doing it for a lot longer than you think you can. If you do something and do it regularly, you can go on for almost forever.
Take Life Year By Year
As the Smash Mouth song says: "The years start coming and they don't stop coming".
Keep Smiling
Al signs all of his correspondence with 'Keep Smiling'.
As Al says: "It isn’t fun getting old. You have to make fun."
